Ricky Tims Super Seminar September 2-4, 2010 Hyannis Resort and Conference Center, Hyannis, MA Bayberry Quilters of Cape Cod will host the Ricky Tims Super Seminar which includes sessions presented by Ricky Tims, Alex Anderson, and Libby Lehman. Lessons are presented in big-screen format enabling each participant to easily see as they follow along in their workbook. This event is designed for quilters of all levels of expertise -- traditional and contemporary quilters alike. An exhibition of Ricky's, Alex's and Libby's award-winning quilts will be on display and the Ricky Tims' Store will provide an opportunity for quilters to purchase some of Ricky's unique hand-dyed fabrics and seminar-related items. The highlight on Friday evening will be Ricky Tims' entertaining piano concert. Bayberry organizers are Paula Tuano and Carol Salerno. Accolades include: As for Ricky and company, they just "Woo Hooed" all attendees. The fun, the energy, the camaraderie were all there. Plus, we all learned something, but the best thing we learned was "sharing". I liked the way Ricky brought this home to us. from Joan Andrews. I am sooooo grateful for this experience, exposure to new ways of doing things and spending a few days with such quality people. Just love Ricky and his light hearted spirit. from Sheila MacAvoy You did a fantabulous job on the seminar!! from Marguerite Martin Thank you, thank you, thank you Paula (and her committee) for all your hard work and many hours to put this seminar together for us. It was unbelievable. I heard quite a few comments that it was worth every penny and more (don't tell Ricky that!). I learned so much and was very inspired. Wanted to go home and do everything. Ricky, Alex and Libby were so accessible. At all the breaks they would sign books and would talk to everyone. They never hid out. Each personality played off the other. It was nice that they were so different. Ricky, the dominate male, Alex the cute traditional quilter and Libby - what can we say about Libby!! Met a lot of new people. Everyone was in a good mood and the atmosphere was so happy and positive. The seminar was well run with the right number of breaks and "stand ups." Again, thank you everyone. Sandy Marai I must say the seminar was a absolutely wonderful......I can't wait to try the circles that Ricky Tims was showing. All of the speakers were so interesting and down to earth. We all share a love of quilting and its great to spend time with all that do. Carole Cote It's hard to say any one thing that gave me inspiration. The whole presentation was "wowsome" It got me to think outside my box, and as you know my box is tiny. Ricky, Alex and Libby work so well together. I enjoyed working with Alex, she is a delight. Libby could be a stand-up comic, and Ricky is cosmic. I came home and cut out my new baby quilt, the blocks are already sewn, and now I am putting it together. I will be using some of the techniques I learned. Barbara Fitzpatrick First of all. My hat's off to you and all the volunteers for all the planning and hard work that resulted in a fantastic three day seminar. It's hard to say which was my favorite presentation as Ricky, Alex and Libby were all great in their own specialty. The large screen assured that everyone could see exactly what they were teaching. Each of them made us feel that they really enjoyed being there and they were so accomodating by arranging the program so that we would not miss anything due to the uncertainty of the bad weather. This is the third time I have seen Ricky perform and each time it has something new. He certainly is a master of the machine and music. What might I try? I have plans for Caveman style and the circle technique. I may even quilt my convergence top from a class I took from him years ago in Lowell. My only regret: I wish I had written down Libby's jokes. Thanks again, Barbara Delphos, Hopedale,MA It was a wonderful time. Libby Lehman was a hoot and Alex Anderson was great but most of all Ricky Tims was spectacular and lets not leave out Justin for all the work he did. I learned so many ideas and I think I would love to make a kaleidoscope wall hanging... Linda Dobbins Seminar was a very unique interactive experience, full of energy and fun. Learned alot, laughed alot and had no quilt police looking over my shoulder to see what I was doing wrong. My head is just chuck full of many tips and techniques and the syllabus is like a bible. It will take weeks to go absorb and try everything. Nice to see that all 3 quilters - Alex, Ricky and Libby are real approachable people but totally different personalities. WHOO HOO is right. So glad I went. Kathy Murray The man is an artistic genius; a dynamic teacher who radiates immeasurable energy and enthusiasm for his music and quilting. His organization and efficiency produce smooth running events, even in the face of a threatening hurricane. I couldn't have imagined how exciting those three days would be! I am energized and hope Bayberry Quilters will get together in small groups to undertake some of his projects. Betsy Belden and I are interested in establishing a small group to attempt Kool Kaleidoscope...anyone interested? Marguerite Martin The seminar was spectacular. Couldn't get enough of looking at the quilts even though I was a "white glover". There was no FAVORITE part. It was a building block event. Newbies to quilting seemed to love the seminar as much as us oldies. I will make time to do these great techniques. Thanks again for getting this seminar to the Cape. Sunny Saylor | |
